Prospective students for an undergraduate course leading towards a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree must have completed a HSC (10+2, or high school) with the Science stream, including the subjects Biology, Chemistry and Physics with at least 50% marks.
The MBBS course starts with the basic pre-clinical subjects such as biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, microbiology, pathology and pharmacology. The students simultaneously obtain hands-on training in the wards and out-patient departments, where they interact with real patients. The curriculum aims to inculcate good habits of history taking and examination. The student is taught to arrive at a differential diagnosis and to determine what investigations will be useful in a particular case.
In India, The Bachelor of Technology in Engineering degree is awarded after completion of a 4 year program(Eight Semester which includes seminar,practicals & Projects). The B.Tech. degree is conferred by government and private institutions in various fields like APPLIED ELECTRONICS AND INSTRUMENTATION,Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics (Communication & Instrumentation) Engineering, Mechanical Engineerng, Automobile engineering, Agricultural engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil engineering , Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering and Textile Engineering, Pulp and Paper Engineering as well as a host of other prestigious institutes (both public and privately funded) for their professional engineering programs.
In India, training in dentistry is through a 5 year BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) course, which includes 4 years of study followed by one year of internship. As of 2010, there were a total of 291 colleges (39 run by the government and 252 in the private sector) offering dental education. This amounts to an annual intake of 23,690 graduates.
Post graduate training is for three years in the concerned speciality. Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) is offered in the following subjects -

Dental education in India is regulated by the Dental Council of India.
The Bachelor of Pharmacy degree is popularly known as B Pharm in India. It is a four year program with both annual and semester schemes available. In order to be eligible, one must pass with at least 50% marks in 10 + 2 (or an equivalent examination )with biology/mathematics as one of the subjects. In some states it is mandatory to give an additional pharmacy entrance examination in order to be eligible for the course. On the other hand D Pharma students are too eligible for admission into B Pharma in second year directly via Lateral entry .
Colleges imparting Pharmaceutical education (D Pharma , B Pharma , M pharma or Pharm D must be approved by All Indian Council of Technical Education (AICTE ) or Pharmacy Council Of India (PCI ). For a student to be eligible for registration as a Pharmacist the college from which thet graduated must be approved PCI . B pharma is often superseeded by M Pharma and Ph D level courses.
